Build Block®

Build Block® is a name you'll be hearing more about and Consumers Concrete, your local distributor is the place to come to find out why. The use of Insulated Concrete Forms (ICF's) is one of the fastest growing methods of the construction. Build Block ICF's are made of Expanded Polystyrene (EPS), and used on both residential and commercial projects. When the forms are put together into walls and filled with concrete, a strong reinforced monolithic concrete wall is created for your next structure. The forms remain to become the insulation for the concrete walls.

Concrete homes and buildings are safe, secure and very quiet. Outside noise is virtually eliminated which offers a level of stress free comfort that is not possible in conventional wood frame construction. Reinforced concrete walls bring safety to a new level.

There are so many benefits to the Build Block System...

Increased Strength
A reinforced concrete monolithic concrete wall offers far superior strength and safety when compared to wood construction.

Environmentally Friendly
The use of wood products is significantly reduced and far less fuel will be required to heating and cooling. Concrete homes are a Green method of construction.

Fire Rating
Three hours protection from a 6" concrete wall.

Energy Efficient
Provide excellent insulation, virtual air and vapor barrier with an R-22 thermal insulation, (thermal mass and air tightness can increase the effective R Value up to 100% depending on the building location), lower heating/cooling costs by 30%-40% sizing requirements are greatly reduced for HVAC equipment.

Cost
The cost of building an Build Block structure will be comparable to other energy efficient structures. The National Association of Home Builders research center has said that a concrete home could add 1% to 5% to a conventional wood home. A mortgage that is a bit higher because of this is often offset by lower monthly insurance and energy costs.
